Here is a list of all the important PMT exams for which you must appear
Amongst the oldest and the most respected professions in the world, medicine enjoys a prominent place. While new careers have emerged, it is still the most sought after. This is perhaps due to the status a doctor enjoys in society. He is the healer and is looked upon with awe and admiration. It is a career which is in a constant state of flux. Research work is being carried out in every sphere, resulting in the emergence of new ideas and new data. A medical practitionel must be well acquainted with the latest information to offer his best to his patients. Thus medicine is a profession which requires good judgment, dedication and commitment.
Many students decide to take entrance test but only few of them know exactly how to proceed for which exam they are eligible. When are these exams notified and from where you can get the application form. Here are some medical exam for which selection is on all India basis.

All India Institute of Medical Science, New Delhi

Total seats - 50 (34 General, 11 SC/ST, 5 foreign candidates).notification releases in January, Exam on 1st June/July. Paper consists of 60 Q each in P,C,B and 20 in G.K. to be attempted in 3 *1/2 hours. marking Scheme 1 : 1/3.

Vardhman Mahavir Medical College, New Delhi

Total seats - 75, (50% seats for Delhi students, 50% for rest of India students). Notification in January, Exam pattern is same as that of CBSE.

All India Pre-Medical / Pre-Dental Entrance Examination

This exam is conducted by the CBSE. Of the total seats in various colleges in India, 15 % are reserved for entry through this exam. The forms are available from mid October and exams (Prelim & Main) are on !st April 2007 and 13th May 2007 respectively. The prelim exam consists of one objective type paper of 3 hours duration consisting of Physics, Chemistry and Biology (Botany & Zoology). There are 200 MCQs in all, 50 on physics, 50 on Chemistry and 100 on Biology. negative marking is in the ratio of 3:1.
The Main Examination will consist of two papers each of 2 hours duration. Paper-1 will contain questions from Physics and Chemistry and Paper-2 will contain questions from Biology (Botany & Zoology). The Main Examination will have conventional (non-objective) questions to answered in the Test Booklet supplied.

Armed Forces Medical College Entrance Examination

Total seats - 130 (including a maximum of 25 girls and 10 SC/ST). Forms available from mid January. Exam held’s in 1st week of May. The exam consists of one objective type paper of 2 hours duration consisting of Physics, Chemistry, Biology (Botany & Zoology), Logic & Reasoning and English Language & Comprehension. There are 200 MCQs in all, 50 on Physics, 50 on Chemistry, 50 on Biology, 25 on Logic & Reasoning and 25 on English language & Comprehension. Negative marking is in the ratio of 1:0.25.

Institute of Medical Science-BHU Entrance Examination

Total Seats - 50 (40 for general category). Forms available: February/march. Screening Exam consists of one objective type paper of 3 hours containing 200 MCQs in Physics, Chemistry, Botany and Zoology (50 MCQs each). Main exam consists of two sections: Section A consists of 100 MCQs (25 each in PCBZ) having single answer correct and section B consists of 100 MCQs (25 each in PCBZ) having multiple answer correct. Duration for Main exam in 3 hour. Negative marking for both (Scree. & Mains) is in ratio 2:1.

Chirstian Medical College (Vellore) Entrance Exam

Total seats - 60 (sponsored - 45,SC/ST-3,economically disadvantaged- 4 central govt. nominee - 1, open seats (on all India exam basis) - 7, Forms available : 2nd week of March Exam held on last week of May. Exam Consist of one objective type entrance exam consisting of Biology, Chemistry, Physics and General Ability.

Mahatma Gandhi Institute of medical Sciences (MGIMS) Entrance Exam

Total Seats - 63 (50% reserved seats). Forms available in January - March. Exam held in April. The examination will be of objective type & the paper of Physics. Chemistry and Biology will be having multiple choice question of 1 hour each and only the paper of Ghandhian thought will be essay type questions of hours duration.

Karnataka CET

Total seats - 2182 for MBBS and 1546 for BDS. Exam consists of two papers in two sessions. Physics (60 question) & Chemistry (60 question) in first session and Biology (60 question ) in second session. Negative marking Ratio 4:1.

Manipal Academy of Higher Education (Manipal)

Total Seats - Around 400.forms available in February. Exam Helds in May. Exam consists of one objective paper having Physics (60), Biology (80) and English & aptitude (40). Negative Marking is in ratio 4:1.

St John's medical College, Bangalore

MBBS - 60 seats (including 40% seats for sisters and 18% for SC/ST). Entrance exam is held in last week of May and completed in one day. There are four papers each of 1 hr. duration (paper 1 Physics, paper 2 Chemistry, Paper 3 - Biology, paper 4 - values- a general paper which includes questions designed to bring out motivation, social awareness, compassion, comprehension etc.) The questions are generally of short answer and objective type.

Bharti Vidyapeeth Deemed University, Pune

Conducts common entrance test (CET) for admission to MBBS/BDS/BAMS/BHMS courses at its constituent colleges on all India basis in the Following Colleges :
(1) Medical College katraj, Dhankawadi, Pune - 411 043 (trust, Seats 120).
(2) Dental College and Hospital, katraj - Dhankawadi Educational Complex, Pune - 411043 (Trust Seats 100).

Notification releases in mid Feb. CET test held in may at Pune, Vavi Mumbai,Hyderabad,BAroda,Indore & New Delhi. Application form and prospectus can be obtained from the notified institutions of Bharti Vidyapeeth at Pune - 411 030.
